General

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Mitch D. Electric is fully licensed and insured across the state of Florida. We hold a Certified Electrical Contractor license (EC13006484) and a Certified Air Conditioning Contractor license (CAC1819151), which means every job — whether it's electrical or HVAC — is performed by qualified, credentialed professionals and backed by proper insurance for your protection.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency service?

Yes. Electrical and HVAC problems don't wait for business hours, and neither do we. Our team is available around the clock, every day of the year, for genuine emergencies — no power, a burning smell, a dead air conditioner in the Florida heat, or anything else that simply can't wait until morning. Just call (407) 361-2704 any time, day or night.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Orlando and serve homes and businesses throughout Central Florida — including Altamonte Springs, Apopka, Kissimmee, Winter Park, Winter Garden, Clermont, Oviedo, Longwood, Daytona Beach, and many more communities across the region. If you're in the greater Orlando area and aren't sure whether we cover your neighborhood, give us a call and we'll be glad to let you know.

Do you handle both residential and commercial work?

Yes, we work on both. On the residential side, that ranges from a single outlet repair or a flickering light all the way up to a whole-home rewire or a brand-new AC system. On the commercial side, we serve offices, retail spaces, restaurants, warehouses, and multi-unit properties, including larger electrical and HVAC installations and ongoing maintenance.

How do I request service or get a quote?

You have two easy options. For anything urgent, call us directly at (407) 361-2704 — we answer 24/7. For non-emergencies or to request a quote, use the Request Service form on our site: tell us your contact details and what you need, and we'll get back to you to schedule a visit.

How does your pricing work?

We believe in honest, upfront pricing — what we quote you is what you pay, with no hidden fees or surprise charges tacked on at the end. Because the cost of a job depends on exactly what's involved, we assess your specific situation first and give you a clear price before any work begins, so there are no surprises.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. Many electrical and HVAC projects require permits and a code inspection, and as a licensed contractor we take care of that process for you where it's required. Pulling the proper permits protects you — it keeps the work up to code, helps you avoid fines and failed inspections down the road, and matters if you ever decide to sell your property.

What kind of warranty do you offer?

We stand behind every job we do. If something isn't right with work we've performed, we'll come back and make it right. Warranty coverage can vary depending on the specific work and any equipment or parts involved, so we'll walk you through exactly what's covered before we begin — just ask.

Electrical

Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?

A breaker that trips is actually doing its job — it's cutting power to protect you from an overload or a fault. Common causes include too many devices drawing power on a single circuit, a short circuit, a ground fault, or an aging or faulty breaker. An occasional trip isn't necessarily an emergency, but a breaker that trips frequently, feels warm, or won't reset is worth having a licensed electrician inspect, since it can point to a wiring problem or an overloaded panel.

How do I know if my electrical panel needs an upgrade?

A few common signs: your breakers trip often, you're still running an older fuse box, your lights flicker or dim when large appliances turn on, you rely on power strips and extension cords because you don't have enough outlets, or your panel is 20 to 30 years old or more. Older panels often can't safely handle the demands of a modern home — especially if you're adding something like an EV charger, a new AC system, or a hot tub. We can inspect your panel and give you an honest recommendation on whether an upgrade makes sense.

Can you install an EV charger at my home?

Yes, home EV charger installation is one of our services. We'll confirm your electrical panel can handle the additional load, run the proper dedicated circuit, and install the charger safely and to code so you can reliably charge your vehicle at home.

When should I call an electrician instead of doing it myself?

Small, cosmetic tasks like swapping out a light fixture can be do-it-yourself for some homeowners. But anything involving your electrical panel, wiring, adding circuits, frequent breaker trips, a burning smell, warm outlets, or any work that requires a permit should be handled by a licensed electrician. Electrical work done incorrectly is a real fire and shock hazard — when in doubt, it's safer, and often cheaper in the long run, to call a professional.

Heating & Cooling (HVAC)

How often should I change my AC filter?

For most homes, every 90 days is a good baseline. But if you have pets, allergies, or run your system hard through the Florida summer, changing it every 30 to 60 days is better. A clogged filter forces your system to work harder, drives up your energy bill, and can shorten the life of the unit, so it's one of the easiest and cheapest things you can do to keep your AC running well.

How often should I have my AC serviced?

At least once a year, and ideally right before the peak cooling season. In Central Florida your AC runs hard for most of the year, so an annual tune-up — checking refrigerant levels, cleaning the coils, testing components, and catching small issues early — helps it run efficiently, keeps your energy bills down, and helps prevent the kind of breakdown that always seems to happen on the hottest day of the year.

Should I repair or replace my AC system?

It comes down to a few factors: the age of the unit (most last about 10 to 15 years), how frequently it's needed repairs, the cost of the repair compared to a replacement, and how efficient the system is. A good rule of thumb is that if a repair costs a large fraction of what a new system would, or the unit is old and breaking down often, replacement usually makes more sense. Either way, we'll give you an honest assessment rather than pushing you toward the more expensive option.

Why isn't my AC cooling properly?

There are several possible causes — a dirty air filter, low refrigerant, a frozen coil, a failing compressor or capacitor, leaky ductwork, or a thermostat problem. Some of these are quick fixes and some are larger repairs, but a system that runs constantly and still can't keep up shouldn't be ignored, especially in Florida heat. We can diagnose exactly what's going on and let you know what it will take to fix it.
